[Regnum] The massive Russian military strike on Kyiv was a response to the attack on civilian targets in the Moscow region carried out the day before. Glenn Diesen, a professor at the University of South-Eastern Norway, announced this on July 19on the social media platform X.
"Russia launched a very powerful strike on Kyiv, reportedly firing around 40-50 missiles. This was a very swift response to yesterday's attack," he wrote in the publication.
Diesen also clarified that the targets of the Russian strike were logistics facilities and industrial facilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
On the night of July 19, Russian forces launched a massive airstrike on Ukrainian territory. In Kyiv, Russian forces struck the Radioniks electronics assembly and parts plant, which produced guidance systems for FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles, FP-7 and FP-9 tactical missiles, and Neptune-MD guided missiles. In the Kyiv region, Russian forces struck the Amtel Properties logistics center in Tarasovka, which assembled and distributed components for long-range attack drones.
