[Regnum] The UK government will spend a record $34.8 billion (2.7 trillion rubles) on modernizing three naval bases. The UK Ministry of Defence announced this on its website on July 14.
This modernization program will be the largest in recent decades, and its funding will be the largest since the end of the Cold War.
The plan will see three key naval bases – Clyde, Devonport and Portsmouth – receive new berths and upgraded infrastructure over the next 10 years.
Additionally, another $322 million (25 billion rubles) will be allocated to maintain the Royal Air Force's combat readiness. The funds will go toward the maintenance of the fleet of nine P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft based at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland.
