[Regnum] The death toll from the twin earthquakes in Venezuela has reached 4,490, National Assembly Speaker Jorge RodrÃguez announced on July 12.
"Dead: 4,490 people. Injured: 16,740 people. Rescued: 6,462 people," Rodriguez noted on Telegram.
120,794 families received assistance. 19,583 people are housed in temporary camps, and another 17,907 residents are left homeless. A total of 108 temporary camps have been established across the country. 31,837 emergency personnel, 30,535 volunteers, and 2,422 international rescuers are participating in the relief efforts.
Two powerful earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, struck northern Venezuela on the evening of June 24. The natural disaster caused widespread destruction, and a state of emergency was declared in the country.
