Text: Heavy Clashes Reported Between IRGC Forces and a Kurdish Armed Group Near Mahabad Heavy clashes were reported between Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and a Kurdish armed opposition group in the Şarstên area on the Mehabad–Pîranşar road. According to local sources, the fighting began late Saturday after the IRGC shelled the area with artillery and continued until Sunday morning. Local sources claimed that several IRGC members were killed or wounded. No Kurdish political or armed group has claimed responsibility for the clashes. The incident comes days after PJAK warned it would respond if the IRGC continued attacking its positions.
