Text: LEBANON TRANSFERS SECOND BATCH OF SYRIAN PRISONERS Lebanon has transferred 128 convicted Syrian prisoners—many serving sentences for offenses such as drug trafficking, theft, assault, and other non-political crimes—to Syria under a February agreement with Damascus. The deal covers about 300 inmates, who must serve the remainder of their sentences in Syria—not be released. The move aims to ease overcrowding in Lebanon’s prisons, where roughly 2,000–2,200 Syrians are currently held. |
