[Regnum] Moderate solar flare activity is expected on June 22–23, with the possibility of high-class X flares. This was reported by the Institute of Applied Geophysics.
“Solar flare activity [on June 22 and 23] is generally moderate, with class X flares possible,” the report said.
They added that the geomagnetic field will be calm with isolated periods of instability.
Also, according to scientists, on June 21, two flares of the penultimate power class were recorded on the Sun - M2.6 and M6.8.
Solar flares are divided into five classes based on the X-ray output. The minimum class, A0.0, corresponds to an output power of 10 nW per square meter at Earth orbit. The highest class is designated by the letter "X."
The day before, on June 21, a solar flare of magnitude M2.6 occurred, the strongest in the past two and a half weeks. Immediately before it, two more strong flares occurred, classified as M1.0 and M1.3.
On June 3, an M9.3-class solar flare occurred, the strongest in 1.5 months. The Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI RAS) clarified that the flare occurred almost exactly at the center of the Sun, where plasma clouds ejected from the epicenter had nowhere else to go but toward planet Earth. On June 5, the plasma clouds from the solar flares reached Earth. They triggered a moderate-intensity magnetic storm that lasted until June 6.
