[Regnum] A solar flare of magnitude M2.6 occurred overnight, the strongest in the past 2.5 weeks. This was reported on June 21 by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to scientists, the flare was recorded at 5:46 AM Moscow time. Immediately before it, two more strong flares occurred, classified as M1.0 and M1.3.
On June 3, an M9.3-class solar flare occurred, the strongest in 1.5 months. The Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI RAS) clarified that the flare occurred almost exactly at the center of the Sun, where plasma clouds ejected from the epicenter had nowhere else to go but toward planet Earth. On June 5, the plasma clouds from the solar flares reached Earth. They triggered a moderate-intensity magnetic storm that lasted until June 6.
At the end of April, a solar flare of magnitude X2.5 occurred. It was the most powerful in two and a half months. However, the event was neutral for Earth, as the center of the explosion was significantly shifted toward the edge of the Sun, causing the plasma to move sideways.
