The CDC has awarded Pfizer more than $1.24 billion in new contracts for COVID-19 vaccines through 2027, even as demand for the shots continues to fall.The deal includes a pediatric vaccine contract worth more than $735 million, despite CDC data showing that only 9% of children are up to date on the latest COVID shot.
The massive spending package is raising questions about why taxpayers are funding another billion-dollar vaccine purchase years after the "pandemic emergency" ended.
The timing is especially controversial given recent revalations presented during Sen. Ron Johnson’s hearings, where internal FDA communications were cited as evidence that vaccine safety signals were not disclosed to the public while Americans were being assured the shots were "safe and effective."
