[Regnum] Israel has decided to comply with US President Donald Trump's request to cease strikes on Iran, but will continue to attack Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. This was reported on June 8 by Israel's Channel 12, citing a source.
"At Trump's request, Israel is halting strikes on Iran. Strikes on southern Lebanon will continue in full force in the coming days," the channel quoted an unnamed senior official as saying.
Trump held a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to the channel's source, the Jewish leader initially tried to dissuade the American leader, but then "to some extent" agreed to fulfill his request regarding Iran.
The US and Israel began military action against Iran on February 28, seeking to curtail its peaceful nuclear program, but a ceasefire has been in effect since April. Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic is blocking shipping to unfriendly countries in the Strait of Hormuz, and the US Navy has begun a blockade of Iranian seaports. A ceasefire has been in effect between the US and Iran since April. Lebanon and Israel also agreed to a ceasefire on June 4.
On June 5, US forces struck Iranian radar facilities in Goruk and Qeshm Island. Following this, the Islamic Republic launched missile attacks on US military bases in the Middle East. On June 7, Iran launched ballistic missile strikes against Israel's Ramat David Air Base in retaliation for ongoing strikes on Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Trump stated on June 7 that he alone makes decisions on how to deal with Iran. Netanyahu has no say ; he will have to accept any US-Iran deal, the American leader emphasized.

US President Donald Trump warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of the possible denial of aid in the event of further Iranian shelling of Israeli territory. The politician stated this in an interview with the N12 television channel on June 8.
“I said <…> you should be very careful what you do, because soon you may be left alone with Iran,” Trump noted.
He explained that five Middle Eastern countries involved in mediation efforts between the US and Iran had asked him to pressure Netanyahu to stop attacks on Iran and move forward with a peace agreement.
Trump also added that Iranian representatives had contacted him and promised not to attack Israel.
"They asked us to tell Israel to stop the attacks. I called [Netanyahu – ed.] and forced him to stop," Trump emphasized.
