[Regnum] Police in southeast Moscow detained 33 foreigners for a mass brawl at a wedding. The press service of the Moscow Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this on May 22.
According to the report, the incident occurred near a commercial building on Yunyh Lenintsev Street near the Tekstilshchiki metro station. Arriving police officers discovered that a verbal dispute had erupted between a group of foreigners during a wedding celebration, leading to a physical altercation.
In total, law enforcement officers detained 33 immigrants, aged between 17 and 60. Criminal cases of hooliganism were opened against six individuals, who now face up to seven years in prison. The defendants are currently in custody.
Meanwhile, 24 foreigners were charged with petty hooliganism (Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation), and three others were charged with illegal entry into the Russian Federation (Part 3 of Article 18.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation). One of the illegal immigrants will soon be deported from the country.
Last October, a mass brawl among immigrant workers broke out in the courtyard of a residential complex in New Moscow. Eyewitnesses recorded the clash between foreign workers armed with shovels, sticks, and road signs. Four people were injured. Police, the Russian National Guard, and paramedics arrived at the scene. According to preliminary reports, a domestic dispute may have been the cause of the brawl.
