Tigray’s TPLF rejects Ethiopia’s claims of collusion with Sudan while Sudanese Armed Forces destroy Mighty Æthiop aircraft

[SudanTribune] The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF)
…the communist Tigray People’s Liberation Front controlled Ethiopia’s government from 1989 to 2019, having overthrown the evil Mengistu, when they made the mistake of putting one of their own ministers, Abiy Ahmed — who is not Tigrayan — in as prime minister. Somehow he became convinced of the benefits of democracy and capitalism, perhaps informed by the MBA he picked up along the way, and within a year was elected president, won a Nobel Peace Prize for ending the war with Eritrea, freed the economy, pursued the corrupt, and sent the TPLF into retirement at their family hearths in Tigray. Naturally this could not be allowed to stand, so the generals revolted, committing numerous of the usual war crimes along the way until they were driven back and pacified. Are they now repeating the cycle?
on Wednesday rejected allegations by the Ethiopian government that it was collaborating with Sudan to destabilize the region, describing the claims as “unfounded and irresponsible.”

In a formal statement, the TPLF leadership characterized the accusations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a pattern of disinformation intended to deflect from domestic and regional challenges.

The group stated it has neither engaged in nor supported activities aimed at undermining regional stability. It further argued that such claims serve to inflame tensions at a time when the region requires restraint and peace efforts.

The exchange follows a May 5 statement from Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which accused the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) of utilizing TPLF “mercenaries” in the ongoing Sudanese civil war. Addis Ababa alleged that Sudan has provided arms and financial support to these fighters, facilitating incursions along Ethiopia’s western frontier.

The Ethiopian ministry further claimed that Sudan is serving as a “hub” for various anti-Ethiopian forces. It stated that these actions were being undertaken at the behest of external patrons seeking to advance a “nefarious agenda” in the Horn of Africa.
