​The attack on vital sites in the capital follows an unprecedented aerial escalation initiated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) last week. Long-range drones have recently struck targets across White Nile, Gezira, North Kordofan, Khartoum, and Gedaref states.
​Military sources told Sudan Tribune that a long-range drone fired four missiles, two of which landed in the eastern section of Khartoum International Airport near Obeid Khatim Street.
​The missiles caused minor damage to an administrative building attached to the airport. Authorities evacuated airport staff and canceled a flight arriving from Port Sudan, while the ministries complex in the Al-Mujahedin neighborhood was also cleared.

On Sunday, May 3, 2026, the Rapid Support Forces reportedly targeted a fuel storage facility at the Kenana Sugar Company Limited in White Nile State using a drone strike. The attack caused a major fire that completely destroyed the storage facility. No casualties have been reported.
DNHR verified the incident using NASA FIRMS (VIIRS) fire detection data and satellite imagery from Google/Maxar Technologies, confirming active fire at the fuel storage area inside the Kenana Sugar Company complex on May 3, 2026.
The Kenana Sugar Factory is the largest sugar production facility in Sudan and one of the country's most important industrial installations. This attack represents a strike on critical economic infrastructure that serves the entire nation.
The factory had only recently resumed production in December 2025 after a shutdown that lasted more than two years. This resumption represented a significant step toward economic recovery and food security. The destruction of the fuel storage facility essential for powering factory operations threatens to halt production again.
