[Regnum] Vietnam plans to purchase Russian Su-57 fighter jets in the early 2030s, according to the American magazine Military Watch Magazine (MWM), citing local sources.
According to these data, the republic intends to purchase up to 24 aircraft from Russia, which will replace the Su-27 and Su-22 fighters.
The authors of the article emphasized that the Su-57's range, powerful sensors, and compatibility with Vietnam's existing weapons systems make it the optimal choice. Furthermore, Hanoi may receive an upgraded version of the fighter, the Su-57M1, in the early 2030s.
On April 14, Rosoboronexport announced that the list of foreign buyers for Russia's latest fifth-generation multirole fighter, the Su-57E, is gradually expanding. The aircraft is stealthy, boasts supersonic cruising speed, high maneuverability, and a powerful arsenal of precision-guided weapons.
In January, MWM magazine observers noted that the Su-57 had demonstrated its effectiveness in combat in the Northern Military District, and not only in airstrikes against ground targets. The aircraft were also used to disable Ukrainian air defense systems and participated in aerial combat.
