Just two hours after the U.S. naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz began, a ship-tracking firm reported that 121 empty oil tankers are now headed to the Gulf of America.

Sixty-one of those vessels are super tankers, each capable of carrying up to 2 million barrels of crude.

Even before the blockade, LNG imports into Asia had already fallen to a six-year low. The US also has access to Venezuelan oil which means Asian economies will become new customers of US controlled energy.
