[Regnum] A complex negotiation process will begin after the Russian army reaches the Donbas borders. This was stated by Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov on April 12.
"In any case, we're talking about very complex, meticulous, and time-consuming negotiations," the president's press secretary said in a conversation with Vesti journalist Pavel Zarubin.
Peskov emphasized that all details of the conflict settlement must be determined during these negotiations.
He also noted that Russia and Ukraine's territorial disagreements are just a few kilometers away. Russia still has about 17-18% of the DPR's territory to liberate.
Peskov also indicated that after the end of the Easter truce, the SVO will resume and the operation will continue until the head of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, musters the courage to make a decision on peace.
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously stated that, in order to begin negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the conflict, Ukraine must withdraw its troops from the regions that returned to Russia in 2022, officially renounce its intention to join NATO, and fulfill a number of other conditions. The head of state emphasized the need to address the root causes of the conflict and ensure long-term peace. The president noted that Russia will liberate its historical territories by military or other means.
On March 23, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasyl Nebenzya, stated that Kyiv is not ready for conflict resolution negotiations and intends to continue military action. The diplomat pointed out that this would soon lead to Ukraine facing new conditions for a peaceful settlement.
