"The White House is working with NATO and Greenland on a 'breathtaking' deal for the US," the US administration said in a statement obtained by the newspaper.
This response came after journalists sought clarification regarding three US citizens who, according to the Danish national broadcaster, were conducting "covert influence operations" in Greenland. According to the newspaper, these were entrepreneur Drew Horn, who planned to build a data center on the shore of a fjord; Thomas Dance, a former member of the federal Arctic Research Commission; and Chris Cox, founder of the Bikers for Trump motorcycle club and a member of the National Security Advisory Board in the Trump administration.
All three of the newspaper's interlocutors emphasized that they acted openly, repeatedly declaring their intention to advance Washington's national interests on the island. Citing sources, the publication also noted that at least two of the businessmen were under surveillance by Danish intelligence during their visits to Greenland.
