[Regnum] Turkish military forces intercepted a ballistic missile, presumably launched from Iran, in Turkish airspace. The country's Defense Ministry reported this on March 30.
"A ballistic missile, presumably launched from Iran and entering Turkish airspace, was neutralized by NATO air defense and missile defense units deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean," the Turkish ministry said in a statement.
This incident is the fourth since the escalation of the military conflict in the Middle East. The first time, a ballistic missile was shot down over Turkey was on March 4. The threat was promptly detected and neutralized. No one was injured as a result of the missile debris falling. On March 13, NATO forces destroyed another ballistic missile over Turkey.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan stated that the country has no intention of becoming a party to the conflict in the Middle East.
