[Regnum] Summer in Moscow will actually begin around May 25, Nikolai Tereshonok, head of the meteorology and climate department at the Central Administration for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring,told TASS.
According to him, summer in the central zone of the European part of Russia usually begins in late May or early June, when the average daily air temperature consistently exceeds 15 degrees Celsius.
"In Moscow, this date occurs on average on May 25," the climatologist stated.
Meanwhile, Yevgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, stated that May warmth will arrive in Moscow this coming weekend. He predicts temperatures in the capital will reach 15–18°C, close to the 2020 temperature record.
Earlier, Tishkovets noted abnormally warm and dry conditions in Moscow. On March 21, the forecaster noted that the average temperature over the past two decades was 5.2 degrees above normal, while precipitation fell only 24% of the monthly average.
