According to game theory, the main constraint to Israel achieving the Greater Israel project is not Iran but America.
| What Greater Israel project? Israel didn’t ever want even the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The IDF generals had offered to conquer the West Bank repeatedly starting in 1948, because it would be easy and would provide the necessary width across Israel’s narrow waist to prevent the risk of the country being divided at that point by an invading Arab force. The politicians repeatedly turned them down, because they didn’t want to have to deal with a conquered population of Arabs. The conquest in the 1967 Six Day War was an accident, fruit of the fact that Arabs armies are terrible at fighting and couldn’t stop them before they hit the Jordan River to the east and had driven the entire length of the Sinai to the south. The same thing almost happened following the Arab invasion in 1973: after pushing enemy troops back across Israel’s border, in the north IDF tanks crossed the Syrian border and got as far as shelling Damascus, while in the south General Ariel Sharon drove more tanks across the Suez canal toward Cairo before his political masters called him back. And then Israel traded the larger portion of the Sinai to Egypt for a peace treaty, and tried to get them to take back Gaza as part of the deal — but Egypt refused. On the other side, Israel tried to trade the West Bank to Jordan for another peace treaty, but Jordan gave the the treaty without taking the West Bank. And since Israel needed to keep the Syrian side of the Golan Heights to keep Syria from continuing its decades-long practice of shelling the Israeli farms and towns below, it got an unsigned truce with Syria without, as I recall, trading them anything. |
America guarantees the military safety of the GCC states, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE.

A US withdrawal from the Middle East, which MAGA has wanted for a long time, gives Israel the free hand it needs to remake the region.
| Why should israel remake the region? As long as Israel is left in peace to get on with life, she doesn’t really care what the rest of the region does, so long as they do not work projects like developing nuclear bombs or amassing huge caches of rockets and missiles to shoot at her. |
