Alan Dershowitz — Professor Emeritus of Harvard Law, one of the most distinguished legal minds in America, and a man who has had personal conversations with both Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu — went on the record Wednesday and said what needs to be said.

Joe Kent's resignation letter claimed Israel manipulated the United States into the Iraq War. Dershowitz was in the room. He knows what actually happened.

The foundational claim of the entire "Israel got us into Iraq" conspiracy theory — the one Tucker Carlson has been platforming, the one Joe Kent put in his resignation letter, the one that has been bouncing around the anti-war right for twenty years — is contradicted by an eyewitness who was in the room. Israel opposed the Iraq War. Israel warned America it was the wrong target. Israel said go after Iran instead.

Kent lied. Categorically.

This is not a call to silence criticism of Israel. Dershowitz himself acknowledges the tension — he doesn't want to give oxygen to antisemitism, but he also cannot let it go unchecked. That's a legitimate debate. What is not a legitimate debate is whether Joe Kent told the truth in his resignation letter. He didn't. A witness who was in the room just said so on national television.

President Trump called Kent weak on security and said he didn't know him well. Yes, he made the bed he will regret having to lie in for the rest of his life, but it breaks my heart that he forced us to stop admiring him.
