[Regnum] A solar flare of the penultimate power class occurred. The Institute of Applied Geophysics (IAP) reported this on March 16.
According to him, it lasted 32 minutes.
“At 15:15 Moscow time, an M2.8 flare was recorded in the X-ray range in the sunspot group 4392 (S14E19),” the institute told the TASS news agency.
On March 13, scientists released footage of a giant solar prominence ejecting. They estimated the plasma structure to be approximately 1 million km in size, three times the distance from Earth to the Moon.
On March 5, Sergei Bogachev, head of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory, noted that solar activity will continue to decline, with numerous magnetic storms expected for at least the next two years. By 2028–2031, they should cease altogether.
