[Regnum] Shiveluch, one of Kamchatka's largest volcanoes, ejected an ash column 8 km long on March 13. This was reported by the press service of the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The volcano erupted at 10:05 PM local time, sending ash plumes up to 8 km above sea level. The ash cloud traveled northeast toward the Bering Sea, the press service clarified.
According to eyewitnesses from the village of Klyuchi in the Ust-Kamchatsky district, explosions were heard coming from the volcano.
On February 8, Shiveluch emitted an ash plume reaching a height of up to 11.6 km above sea level. The ash cloud extended approximately 40 km northwest of the volcano. The day before, the ash plume reached a height of 10.5 km.
