Almost all of the country’s crude oil shipments leave from this island, making it a critical economic lifeline. A strike on Kharg Island could mean more than just an attack on infrastructure. It may signal a move to control Iran’s key oil gateway. If that happens, Iran’s exports could be disrupted, and control in the nearby Strait of Hormuz could shift. |
