[Regnum] The death toll from the Ukrainian Armed Forces' strike on a hospital in the Donetsk People's Republic has risen to ten. This was reported on March 13 by the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee.
According to investigators, the strike on the hospital was carried out by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) on March 10. Ten medical workers were killed in the attack.
Ten more people were injured to varying degrees, including nine medics. All victims are receiving necessary medical attention.
Following the attack, investigators examined the scene and found fragments of the drone. Explosive and other forensic tests have been ordered. Military investigative bodies of the Russian Investigative Committee have opened a criminal case under the article on terrorism. The investigation is establishing all the circumstances of the strike and those involved.
Eight deaths were previously reported. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the attack occurred at approximately 3:40 AM Moscow time. Ukrainian forces used four fixed-wing drones. More than 130 patients and approximately 50 medical workers were inside the building at the time of the strike.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the medical facility had never been used for military purposes. The ministry called the incident a gross violation of international humanitarian law and human morality.
The hospital sustained significant damage following the attack. According to the DPR Defense Headquarters, the second floor of one of the wings partially collapsed, and windows on the first floor were shattered. A crater from the impact and drone debris were also found at the site.
