[Regnum] From the very beginning, Russia maintained hope for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on February 24 by Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.
"This hope never left us from the very beginning. From the very beginning, efforts were made to resolve this peacefully. An agreement was drawn up. And then, after Britain's intervention in the peace process, the matter returned to the military track," Peskov told reporters.
Moreover, the Russian President's press secretary emphasized that the actions of the Kyiv regime are now crucial to achieving peace in Ukraine.
“Now everything depends on the actions of the Kiev regime,” Peskov noted.
On February 22, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that the Kyiv regime is deliberately delaying a peaceful resolution to the conflict in order to continue receiving funding from Western countries. Orbán emphasized that ending the Ukrainian conflict would automatically lead to a halt in financial support, and therefore Ukraine's plan is to prevent peace.
On January 15, US President Donald Trump stated that Kyiv, not Moscow, is delaying the peace process in Ukraine. Trump also clarified that Russian President Vladimir Putin, unlike Kyiv's Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is demonstrating a genuine willingness to end the conflict.
Peskov previously stated that the situation for the Kyiv regime was deteriorating day by day, and the window for decision-making on conflict resolution was narrowing. The Russian leader's press secretary emphasized that it was high time for Zelenskyy to take responsibility and stop delaying the negotiation process.
