The organization noted that this phenomenon occurs during periods of extremely low activity, usually during years of solar minimum.
"Not a single spot—even the smallest—is currently observed on the Earth-facing side of the Sun. The star is a perfect disk without any peculiarities," the laboratory reported on its Telegram channel.
Earlier, on February 16, scientists detected a powerful plasma outburst on the left edge of the Sun. This area of ​​activity had previously been asymptomatic. Experts have suggested that this may be a sign of the formation of a new sunspot group. Their type has not yet been determined. The source of the explosion is located on the far side of the star.
Scientists observed the greatest solar activity of the 21st century in May 2024. This resulted in a plasma cloud covering the Earth, which, in turn, triggered the first major magnetic storm in 20 years.
