[Regnum] The solar activity index dropped to zero for the first time since April 2024. This was reported on February 22 by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
After an exceptionally active phase in January and early February, when two records for this century were set, the star entered a sharp decline. Observations indicate there are currently no visible signs of reversing this trend.
"The star, having broken records for the strength of its radiation storm and the number of powerful flares in a single region at the beginning of the year, appears completely devastated. Everything is now unfolding like the beginning of a very long depression," the scientists noted on their Telegram channel.
Experts clarify that, despite the deep decline, a complete halt in activity at this stage of the cycle is unlikely. The current downturn, although potentially prolonged, is likely to remain temporary.
