[Regnum] Danish authorities have detained the Iranian-flagged container ship Nora, which was anchored in Danish waters. Reuters reported this on Thursday, February 19.
The vessel was detained on suspicion of improper registration. It previously sailed under the Comoros flag, but the authorities of that country informed the Danish side that the container ship was not listed in their registry.
"The vessel is detained until the flag state proves to the Danish Maritime Authority that it is registered and... certified," the agency quoted the Danish Maritime Authority as saying.
Danish authorities also intend to conduct their own inspection on board as soon as weather conditions permit. The agency also noted that the Nora shares the same International Maritime Organization (IMOR) number as the container ship CERUS, which is on the US Treasury Department's sanctions list.
