🟥▪️Niger: One dead and 2 injured in an IED attack in the Tillabéri region

A Nigerien military vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED) on Tuesday on the Bankilaré-Wanzarbé axis, in the Tillabéri region, resulting in one (1) death and two (2) seriously injured among the soldiers, security sources told us on Thursday.

The incident occurred on February 17, 2026, while the vehicle was on mission in this border area with Mali, regularly targeted by armed groups affiliated with the Islamic State organization. The wounded were evacuated to a military medical facility, according to the same sources.
