| BLS report for Jan 2026: some job growth |

| [BLSgov] Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 130,000 in January, and the unemployment rate changed little at 4.3 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Job gains occurred in health care, social assistance, and construction, while federal government and financial activities lost jobs. -------------------- Most of the job growth was in health care. On the good side, wages rose nicely, above inflation. Nov and Dec jobs were revised down slightly. CPI report coming up later this week. Per Cleveland Federal Reserve data, it may be below 2.5% annualized, which would be very good news. |
