[Gateway] Daniel Huff, a former White House lawyer, noted in a recent analysis that the drive toward diversity and inclusion in the airline industry has put passengers at risk.
In an article for the New York Post, Huff wrote that President Donald Trump was right to rescind diversity efforts at the Federal Aviation Administration.
That’s because female and minority pilots — many of whom entered the industry amid a drive toward diversity among pilots — were responsible for half of pilot-error crashes.
Despite making up 10 percent of pilots, they were responsible for four out of eight such crashes since 2000.
| Being hired and promoted for any reason other than ability is a recipe for failure. In the old days white men of the right sort were given preference regardless of ability, leaving talented women and non-“right” men of all sorts to languish. Now it’s the talented white men who are left behind, but quality suffers in exactly the same way, and for the same reason. Of course the preferred group are disproportionately bad at what’s needed, not because it is innate to their race and sex, but because they are not being required to prove they can perform, while those few white men allowed to make the cut are the best of the best, precisely as those women and minorities were who made the cut in the old days. |
