Tajik authorities have reported a significant increase in armed confrontations with Afghan drug traffickers along the border in 2025.
One assumes they operate with the permission of the ruling Taliban, as the partnership has existed since the first Taliban caliphate.
- 17 armed clashes recorded, compared to 6 the previous year

- 2 Tajik security personnel killed; 10 Afghan traffickers eliminated

- Over 2,700 kilograms of narcotics seized
