[Regnum] FSB officers prevented terrorist attacks in Dagestan, which were being planned by supporters of an international terrorist organization banned in Russia. This was reported on January 29 by the FSB Public Relations Center (PRC).
Law enforcement officials conducted the operation in collaboration with the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Two suspects, both residents of Dagestan, were killed during the arrest.
It was established that the suspects contacted a terrorist recruiter via Telegram, took an oath, and declared their readiness to commit a terrorist attack. Following their handler's instructions, they selected targets, including a religious site and a section of the Makhachkala-Derbent railway line on the North Caucasus Railway. The suspects then conducted reconnaissance and constructed an improvised explosive device.

Law enforcement officers discovered firearms, ammunition, and an improvised explosive device at the scene, which was defused by bomb disposal experts. Extremist literature and symbols of an international terrorist organization were found at the suspects' residences.
