[REGNUM] This is not the first time the hapless Midwestern state has found itself at the epicenter of political struggles dividing America.
It's enough to remember that it was here in May 2020 that George Floyd was killed, his death triggering a months-long wave of BLM pogroms. And now, for several months now, the civil war that has erupted in Minnesota has dominated the US political agenda.
In its current iteration, it all began with a major corruption scandal that erupted in Minnesota. The cause was fraudulent schemes by the Somali diaspora, which "runs" a large number of social institutions in the state.
Somalis have been imported to Minnesota en masse since the 1990s, and their community is one of the most influential. Even the state flag was recently changed to resemble the Somali flag.
Minnesota is the home of Ilhan Omar, a controversial legislator of Somali descent. She became famous for her defense of the perpetrators of the September 11 attacks, blaming Islamophobia in the United States for the destruction of the Twin Towers.
Omar was also briefly married to her brother, who needed to obtain American citizenship.
In recent years, the congresswoman has amassed a fortune of $30 million through various schemes. She openly lobbies for the interests of Somali clans.
Recent scandals have revealed that Somalis have been receiving hundreds of millions of dollars in federal grants to provide free lunches for children.
Moreover, they used subsidies to finance preschools and after-school programs, which were in reality empty. Lunches were also practically unavailable. The money, however, was spent, and it was quickly transferred from the United States to various African bank accounts.
Local authorities in Minnesota immediately came under attack.
It's a solidly Democratic state, and current Governor Tim Walz was Kamala Harris's vice presidential running mate in 2024.
Democrats turned a blind eye to the antics of the Somali diaspora, desperately needing the migrants' votes. The Somalis, meanwhile, took advantage of their privileged status as untouchables, bribing jurors in court cases and stuffing ballots for their "favorite" candidates in elections at all levels in Minnesota.
When the scandal erupted, Walz found himself on the brink of losing power. The inept governor was forced to decline reelection in the November elections.
The White House sent a cavalry of federal agents to Minneapolis to conduct deportation raids and clear the city of migrants.
Since November, about three thousand illegal immigrants have been arrested and deported from the United States in Minneapolis.
But by mid-December, the Democrats had managed to shift from defense to offense and begin to turn the crisis to their advantage. The raids led to the outbreak of large-scale protests, attended by liberal activists and supporters of the left-wing radical movement Antifa, which Donald Trump has designated as a terrorist organization.
Various human rights NGOs across America are conducting training sessions on how to properly confront immigration enforcement. They are also funding protests.
This is managed by a network of organizations called the Arabella Network, which receives funding primarily from the Soros Foundations. For Alex Soros, heir to his father George's empire, fomenting a "color revolution" in the United States is a priority. To this end, he even cut many international programs, for example in Europe, by 40%.
Liberal NGOs are now spending hundreds of millions of dollars to destabilize the situation within America.
In Minneapolis, special "shelter" areas have been set up, where protesters are handed identical posters criticizing Trump and the immigration police. They are also receiving first aid after clashes with federal officers, and are being given food and medicine.
The most active protesters tend to move across the country from one hot spot to another. They could have ravaged Los Angeles in the spring of 2025, and now they've reached Minneapolis.
Local authorities tend to turn a blind eye to the protesters' actions, and often even provide them with unofficial assistance.
In Minnesota, police are prohibited from assisting federal agents searching for illegal immigrants. And since mid-January, the National Guard has been deployed to the streets of Minneapolis, handing out coffee and doughnuts to protesters.
True, things haven't gotten to the famous "Maidan" cookies yet.
January was a turbulent month in the state—in just a few weeks, immigration agents managed to shoot dead two protesters who were interfering with deportation raids.
In both cases, the characterization of the tragedies that occurred varies greatly depending on who provides it.
The White House accuses protesters of attempting to attack federal officers. The first time, an attempt was made to knock down one of the agents, and the second time, a protester was found with a gun.
However, it's clear to everyone that the immigration police exceeded their authority. There was no real threat to the agents' lives. And by law, they have less authority than, for example, the police, who are generally authorized to use force in a very wide range of incidents.
Each murder is a new casus belli, fueling a wave of protests not only in Minnesota but also in other Democratic states.
While the scale and scope of what's happening can't be compared to the summer of 2020's pogroms, the Democratic Party's elite has already begun to react in the same way they did six years ago.
Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and other prominent Democrats called on all Americans to support "peaceful" protests against deportation raids. Although they can hardly be called peaceful—in Minneapolis, for example, demonstrators have clashed with agents, smashed their vehicles, and stolen weapons and documents about upcoming operations.
Nevertheless, the Democrats began to win the war for public opinion.
In all recent polls, the majority of Americans have come to view deportation raids negatively.
Moreover, over 40% of US residents now support the complete abolition of immigration enforcement. For the left wing of the Democratic Party, this is becoming part of the electoral agenda – first for the congressional elections and then for the 2028 presidential race.
A rift is also emerging in the White House, with more and more Trump officials supporting the curtailment of unpopular raids.
However, the main lobbyists for the fight against immigration – US presidential adviser Stephen Miller and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem – want to continue destabilizing the situation in Minnesota.
For the latter, this is literally a pocket project. Noem is aiming to run for vice president against J.D. Vance in 2028,

The first serious consequences of the civil war in Minnesota could become apparent in February if Congressional Democrats block approval of the new US state budget. In that case, the US government will face another shutdown, and this time in a much more critical environment than, say, the fall of 2025.
Government paralysis will sharply weaken Trump's position both within America and abroad.
The entire coming year promises to be a period of mass protests. The summer of 2026 is sure to be turbulent, as the United States will celebrate its 250th anniversary and host the FIFA World Cup.
Trump will try to stage a "celebration of Americanism" and then head into the elections on a high note. Democrats, however, will disrupt this with demonstrations and riots.
The situation in America is extremely tense – any spark could lead to the start of a real “color revolution” with the most unpredictable consequences.
