[Regnum] Three Azerbaijani citizens have been detained for plotting a terrorist attack on a foreign embassy. The State Security Service ( SSS ) of Azerbaijan reported this on January 27.
According to the report, three young men, motivated by religious hatred, were planning to carry out a terrorist attack on a foreign embassy in Baku. Beforehand, they contacted representatives of the Khorasan Province (a terrorist organization banned in Russia and part of the Islamic State (ISIS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia). The report did not specify which diplomatic mission was involved.
The armed attackers were detained by security forces as they approached the embassy building. Criminal cases have been opened against them under the article on preparations for terrorism motivated by religious hatred by a group of individuals. Investigative actions are ongoing, and the suspects have been taken into custody.
