[Regnum] A very large double explosion occurred on the far side of the Sun, and its cause is unknown. This was reported on January 24 by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"A very large double explosion on the far side of the Sun occurred last night. There are still no satellites on the far side, and one can only guess what happened," the scientists clarified in a message on the laboratory's Telegram channel.
The researchers noted that if the hypothetical centers of activity where the emissions occurred persist for about five more days, they will be visible from Earth. This will be possible due to the rotation of the Sun.
Earlier, on January 19, the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences published video footage capturing the first solar flare of the year with a magnitude X. This flare is noted to be the largest since November 14, 2025.
