"The Federal Security Service in the Kemerovo region has detained a Russian citizen born in 1986, who is involved in planning railway sabotage on behalf of Ukrainian intelligence services, as well as transmitting information about the region's transport infrastructure to the enemy via the Signal messenger," the statement reads.
From March 2022 to July 2025, the suspect lived in Poland, where he was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence services and sent to the Kemerovo region to conduct intelligence and subversive activities. After committing the terrorist attack, he planned to travel to an EU country to seek political asylum.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 30, Part 1, Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Preparation for sabotage”).
