[Regnum] The interstellar object 3I/ATLAS is exhibiting a new anomaly related to changes in the cloud of dust and gas around it. This was reported in a blog post by renowned Harvard University astrophysicist Avi Loeb.
"Notably, there are no traces of microscopic dust particles that would enhance the blue color due to Rayleigh scattering. Moreover, these small particles would have been subjected to strong solar radiation pressure and would have formed a standard cometary tail extending from the Sun," he wrote in the publication.
The scientist also noted the change in the glow of the halo surrounding the object as noteworthy after passing perihelion.
On December 19, the 3I/ATLAS object passed its closest point to Earth, bringing the distance from the celestial body to the planet to approximately 269 million km. The Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences emphasized that this is a huge distance by terrestrial standards, but absolutely negligible in terms of interstellar distances. 3I/ATLAS's next stop will be Jupiter, which it will pass on March 16 at a distance of approximately 53 million km.
