[Regnum] Batkivshchyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko could face up to 10 years in prison as part of an anti-corruption investigation, Ukrainian media reported.
On the morning of January 14, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) charged the politician with bribery of Verkhovna Rada deputies. The investigation is being conducted under Part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Offer, promise, or provision of an unlawful benefit to an official"). The article carries a penalty of 5 to 10 years in prison.
NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine also conducted searches at Tymoshenko's office on January 13. SAPO officers also conducted searches at the home of David Arakhamia, head of Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada.
On January 14, the leader of the Batkivshchyna party reported that so-called urgent investigative actions at her party's Kyiv office continued throughout the night. According to Tymoshenko, investigators seized her work phones, parliamentary documents, and personal savings, which, according to the party leader, are fully reflected in her official asset declaration.
