[Regnum] Heavy snowfall in Moscow and the surrounding region has led to new daily precipitation records, Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center,
"The daily precipitation record has been broken in Moscow. According to the city's VDNKh base weather station, 22 mm of precipitation fell in the capital over the past 24 hours," a weather forecaster announced on Telegram.
In the Moscow region, Dolgoprudny was the clear leader, recording 33 mm of precipitation, or 62% of the January average. Significant amounts of precipitation were also recorded in New Moscow, Sheremetyevo, and Kashira. Meanwhile, Moscow's all-time daily January record of 23 mm, set on January 8, 1970, remains unbroken.
Meanwhile, city services continue to clean up the aftermath of the disaster. Snow is being removed from the streets, and courtyards are being cleared of snow and ice. Around 130,000 utility workers are involved in this work in the capital.
