[Regnum] UN Secretary-General António Guterres called on all member countries to respect international law. His spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric, made this statement during a briefing for journalists on January 9.

The call is a response to US President Donald Trump's words, who said that he limits his powers solely by his own morality, but not by international law.
The day before, in an interview with The New York Times, Trump stated that his powers as commander-in-chief are limited only by his own morality and reason, not by international law. He also noted that he does not seek to harm people. When asked further whether his administration must comply with international law, Trump affirmatively stated that he would decide for himself when such limitations apply to the United States.
