[Yahoo] Temperatures in the Yukon Territory are no picnic during the winter months. Home to some of the world's most frigid air, the atmosphere has to put in some effort to break records here.
But that's exactly what's happened over the past couple of weeks amid one of the region's longest and most extreme cold snaps on record.

for those wondering, Fairbank AK has also been cold but temperature did not fall below -50F
in the other hemisphere, Oymyakom in Russia had several days below -50F last week but is warming to near -30F currently
fortunately for the USA, the polar votex has kept the cold bottled up |
