[Regnum] Seismologists registered a magnitude 6.2 earthquake in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Peru. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported this on December 28.
According to him, the earthquake's epicenter was 94 km southeast of the city of Trujillo, home to over 700,000 people. The tremors originated at a depth of 66 km.
There were no reports of casualties or damage.
Earlier, on December 12, a magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck off the coast of Japan in the northeastern prefecture of Aomori. This triggered a 1-meter tsunami warning for the coasts of Miyagi, Iwate, and Aomori prefectures and the southeastern coast of Hokkaido.
