[KhaamaPress] Germany has deported an Afghanistan national to Kabul after he was convicted on criminal and security-related charges, the German Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.The ministry said the individual had been convicted of armed robbery in the western state of North Rhine—Westphalia and was returned to Afghanistan after completing his prison sentence.
German migration authorities stressed that most Afghanistan nationals deported from the country are either convicted of serious crimes or have failed to cooperate with officials during identity verification and asylum procedures.
Thousands of Afghanistan citizens remain stranded in Pakistain after fleeing Afghanistan following the 2021 political transition. Many have been awaiting onward relocation under German humanitarian admission and resettlement programmes, facing visa delays, legal uncertainty and pressure from Pak authorities.
German officials said that in recent days, groups of stranded Afghanistan citizens were flown from Pakistain to Germany as part of these programmes. Authorities added that the remaining eligible Afghans are expected to be transferred to Germany by the end of the year, subject to final security checks and logistical arrangements.
Since the beginning of 2018, more than 220 Afghanistan nationals have been deported from Germany, according to official data, even as Berlin continues limited humanitarian admissions.
