[Regnum] The Roscosmos State Corporation has approved the project to deploy the Russian Orbital Station (ROS) based on the Russian segment of the International Space Station. This was announced on December 18 by Oleg Orlov, Director of the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"The Roscosmos Scientific and Technical Council supported this proposal and approved the deployment of the Russian orbital station as part of the Russian segment of the ISS as the main possible scenario," TASS quotes the scientist as saying.
As Orlov noted, after the completion of the ISS program, the Russian orbital station will be put into autonomous mode and will continue to operate independently.
He added that Roscosmos's scientific and technical council approved this proposal and established it as the baseline deployment option for the Russian orbital station. Orlov also explained that the choice of an orbit with an inclination of 51.6° was discussed by the state corporation, taking into account geopolitical factors, leading to a special commission working on it for several months.
