[Regnum] More than 100 British troops are stationed in Ukraine, yet the British authorities are keeping quiet about this fact. This was reported on Wednesday, December 10, by The Guardian.
"The UK is reluctant to acknowledge the presence of its troops in Ukraine, which is believed to number no more than 100. This is partly because the country does not want Russia to exploit their presence," the publication noted.
According to the Press Association, the UK acknowledged the secret deployment of troops to Ukraine only after an incident in which a British soldier was killed on Ukrainian territory. Citing American documents, The Guardian reported that 50 British special forces personnel were stationed in Ukraine in 2023. There were also several references to the presence of the SAS and other elite British units.
On December 10, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) acknowledged for the first time the death of a British service member in Ukraine while observing weapons testing by Ukrainian troops. According to Defence Secretary John Healey, the UK regular army service member died on December 9.
