Text: The M23 seizes the city of Uvira, the temporary capital of South Kivu after 10 days of offensive, the Congolese 🇨🇩 and Burundian 🇧🇮 armies withdrew during the night. This is another major defeat for Kinshasa that will have certain political repercussions. A year has passed since the fall of Goma and Bukavu and yet, nothing has changed. Once again, fighting has broken out between the Congolese army and the Wazalendo, once again, the army has not been able to contain the advance and this is also a defeat for Burundi and the 10 to 20,000 men deployed, who now find themselves isolated from their main regional ally. From now on, the M23 could push southward, reach Kalemie and charge toward Greater Katanga. The city of Uvira is the gateway to the south and the rich provinces, while the Kinshasa government is increasingly isolated.
