She pointed out that Russia and the new US leadership have similar assessments of the alarming processes occurring in Europe.
"In this regard, one can only hope that the new American 'Strategy' will have the same sobering effect on the European 'war party' as the recent statements by Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin about the absurdity of European 'motivations' for preparing for some kind of 'war with Russia,'" Zakharova said in a statement published on the Foreign Ministry's website.
Furthermore, the diplomat pointed out that several provisions of this strategy on Ukraine could form the basis for further joint efforts between Russia and the United States to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. It is also clear that the American side has seriously rethought its foreign policy principles, Zakharova added.
The revised US National Security Strategy was released on December 5. Among other things, the document emphasizes the importance of resuming dialogue on strategic stability with Russia. However, the new version eliminates the criticism of Russia that was present in the previous version. The strategy identifies the phenomenon of "civilizational erasure" caused by active migration processes as the main threat to Europe.
Military expert Captain First Rank (Ret.) Vasily Dandykin, in an interview with Regnum News Agency, assessed the updated American strategy. He believes the US administration's new course effectively entails relegating Europe to the periphery of global politics and abandoning Ukraine as a problematic and costly asset.
