[Regnum] During its 38th eruption, the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii erupted with a lava fountain approximately 370 meters high. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported this on December 6.
According to the USGS, the eruption began at approximately 9:45 PM Moscow time. Currently, all three craters of the volcano are spewing lava fountains, an extremely rare occurrence.
The fountains in the south crater reach about 1,200 feet (370 m) in height, while the fountains in the north crater have dropped well below their maximum of 500 feet (150 m), the USGS said.
Kilauea is one of the largest and most active volcanoes in the Hawaiian Islands. Its alert level currently remains at Watch/Orange.
On October 18, lava eruptions from the Kilauea volcano reached heights of approximately 500 meters and 330 meters, respectively. Experts estimate that this may have been the highest single fountain and the highest pair of fountains recorded during the current eruption. This eruption is the 35th this year. On June 12, fountains from Kilauea's northern vent reached heights of 100 meters.
