Text: STC forces have escalated their operations, seizing Sayoun Airport, the Presidential Palace and guest house, and the government complex offices. Footage from the ground shows Hamdan, the son of Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, President of the STC National Assembly, and @fadibaoom, both of whom are sons of prominent Hadrami figures who have long supported Hirak, the Southern Movement. Crackles of celebratory gunfire have been documented across the area following the advances. There is still no confirmed update regarding the status of the First Military Region Command (MRC), but soldiers associated with the 135th Brigade and Special Security Forces appear to have surrendered.
Text: The UAE-backed STC has seized control of the powerful 37th Armored Brigade, commanded by Maj. Gen. Saleh al-Juaymlani, who also leads the 1st MRC. Al-Juaymlani is a former commander of Presidential Guard and was among the last officers to fight the Houthis in Sana’a before their September 2014 takeover. The 37th Armored Brigade possesses a substantial arsenal, including dozens of BM-21 Grad launchers, BRDM-2s, BMP-1 and BMP-2 IFVs, BTR-60s, T-55 and T-62 main battle tanks, D-20 and D-46 field artillery pieces, along with large quantities of ammunition. With this takeover, it is now reasonable to say that the STC controls all major highways in Hadramawt and is likely to consolidate its authority over the entire region in the coming hours. The situation suggests that the previous power structure has effectively collapsed.
